Career Services Department-Internet Acceptable Use Statement


What Uses are Permitted:
Macomb Community College (MCC) Career Services Internet computers are primarily to be used by students, faculty and staff for job search purposes. All minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult in order to use the Internet.

What Uses are Prohibited:
Career Services Internet computers are present in order to support:
•     Job Search
•     Resume/Cover Letter Writing
•     Career and College Research
•     Online Career Assessments
•     Macomb Registration
•     FAFSA
•     Online Orientation

Users found to be monopolizing computers for recreational purposes will be asked to give up their seat in order to accommodate users with legitimate computer needs.

The use of the Internet computers for any illegal activity is forbidden. These activities include, but are not limited to, the use of others' personal information for fraudulent and/or criminal purposes, as well as the violation of federal and/or state obscenity or sexual harassment laws. Violation of federal copyright laws is also prohibited. Macomb Community College Career Services reserves the right to refuse access to the Career Services office to anyone found to be engaging in illegal activities.

Time Limits:
During peak periods, users may be asked to limit their time of computer use to ONE HOUR in order to accommodate those who are waiting.

Printing Limit:
Users may be asked to limit their amount of printing on Career Services lab printers to TWENTY PAGES per day

Standards:
1.  No software or files can be downloaded to the hard drive of any Internet computer.

2.  Attempts to alter the configuration of the Internet computers is strictly prohibited.

3.  Users must adhere to federal copyright law in the use of all programs, data and information obtained from Career Services Internet computers.
